SEO Frenzy
Search Engine Optimization, mostly known as the three-letter acronym S.E.O. is the heartbeat of any website.
By this time, I know most of you have already heard about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Any website needs to have this key ingredient. If not, your chance of having a successful online business is low to none. Knowledge of SEO is indispensable.
SEO is the process of making your website searchable through search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask, and MSN. To simply put it, search engines use formulas in order to rank websites. When you go to Google, for example, and type the word you are searching information for, the first websites that come up (after the sponsored listing if there's any) are the ones that rank the highest in Google's formula.
Since most people who are looking for something go to the Search Engines first, it is very important to know how to be indexed by the search engines. This is where SEO comes in. I am not an SEO expert but the following may be helpful to you in optimizing your website:
1. Search for a keyword that you think people will type in the search engines when they are looking for your site. You can validate the effectiveness of this keyword by using the Keyword Selector Tool or theWordtracker. (More on Keyword Selector Tool and Wordtracker later.)
2. Put as many keywords as you can in your site’s content.
3. Get as many links as you can from other websites with similar themes.
4. Write at least one article about your website and submit to ezines so you will have more exposure.
5. Submit your URL to online directories.
The Keyword Selector Tool
The Keyword Selector Tool is a free site where you can check the popularity of the keyword that you have in mind for your website. You type in the word or the phrase and it will generate how many times the word or phrase came up in Yahoo Search. This is useful when you are trying to be ranked in Yahoo. If you want to see the effectiveness of your keyword in other search engines, then you must use Wordtracker.
The Wordtracker
Only one of its kind, the Wordtracker is a software that you can use to check what people are looking for in search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask, Altavista, and MSN. You type in the word or the phrase and Wordtracker would show the competitiveness of your words or phrases. If the keywords you are optimizing are so popular, your website may not rank well in search engines. Wordtracker will then suggest other keywords with similar meanings and are worth considering. You choose the keywords that you think works best for you. The thing is it’s not a free program.
I once used Wordtracker myself and followed the course they have online to the letter. It didn’t work. In the end, I have to cancel my subscription and my website. I can’t continue paying for the monthly fee if I was not making money. I did SEO myself but I wasn’t successful. I cannot afford the sophisticated SEO software that are in the market. It was not working for me so I decided to move on.
Of course, no two persons have the same story. What may have failed with me may succeed with yours.
