image Selling your old cds is just one idea to sell on eBay.

eBay is the largest auction site there is and you can do it for fun or as part of your livelihood

Online auction is very popular because it’s easy. And of all auction sites, eBay is the most used whether by buyers or sellers. And based on my experience, eBay works. If you are thinking of or are already auctioning on eBay, the following tips may help in boosting your sales.

How can you sustain a steady income through eBay? eBay has a number of tools and resources to get you started. Just have patience to read through them. eBay encourages sellers to do an extensive research before selling. Putting your stuff in the market entails money so get your homework done first.

Begin by selling your old used or unused stuff. You can then buy wholesale products on the internet and resell, or you can make or put together a product yourself (i.e., gift baskets). You can even utilize a service called dropshipping.

Here are some tips for a successful eBay business:

1.      Always add the brand, size, and color of your product (if applicable) in your title. The customers already have in mind what they are looking for.

2.      Consider the power of pictures. Worth adding in your investment because the product would have a better exposure. Bear in mind that you are advertising the product through the picture so take your best shot.

3.      Be generous with your product description. People buy online not only because they want to get a discount but also because they don’t want to go wrong. Be sure to give accurate details.

4.      Be personal. Whether you are selling something new or old, people are curious why the item ended in your closet or garage. They would love to hear the story behind a dress or a kid’s toy that’s never used.

5.      Always have the shipping calculated instead of setting your own shipping fee. This will create trust on the part of the customer that you are not overcharging them. Additionally, have the option to have insurance on shipping just to make sure there will be no problem in the future.

6.      Have a money back guarantee. By having a money back guarantee, your customer is buying from you with confidence. Most likely, if you covered everything, the customer would not return the item, especially if they have to pay for the shipping to send the item back. If you have a fair return policy, you assure the customer that you are on their best interest and that you have a firm belief in the product you are selling..

7.      Include the option of Buy It Now. Some customers would not mind waiting for five days while others would want to have the product immediately. If you have the Buy It Now option, the waiting period is eliminated and you make a sale in a shorter time.

8.      Answer email inquiries promptly. This will develop rapport and connection between you and the customer. She may not buy from you today but she will surely remember you in the future.

9.      Wow your customers. Once you made a sale, impress your customer by adding something extra. You can do this by nicely packing the item or by paying for the higher shipping option even if the customer opted for the lower one. This will encourage repeat customer.

10.  Double check the shipping address. Most shipping errors can be avoided if you have the right address. You don’t have to worry that the item would end up in the wrong hands plus you will not suffer losses in sending another item again.

11. If you are selling multiple items, be sure to include them in your descriptions. This way, you are maximizing the exposure and advertisement for all your listings.

Always remember that selling on eBay depends on trust and you have to build trust if you want to sell on eBay for a long time.
