Keeping A Tidy House With A Toddler
A healthy toddler is always at work – grabbing everything she can get her hands into and leaving a mess where she has been.
With a toddler around and the gigantic work that comes with care giving, it is next to impossible to keep the house tidy. Even if you try, it will be cluttered one minute later.
Having a toddler changes the way your house looks. Whatever aesthetic element it has should be set aside until your toddler is old enough to know what not to touch. Nevertheless, there are ways where you can keep things in order.
1. Limit the number of toys available for play. Have toys in batches. This will not also minimize clutter but also keep your child’s attention with toys. When toys are just laying around, the child’s interest with them diminishes.
2. Have a bin for smaller toys. Have a catch-all container that is portable. It is easy to throw toys in and know where you put them.
3. Incorporate “clean up” as part of play. Cross the line between tidying up and playing. Your toddler would not know the difference.
4. Put things in their regular places as much as you can. Your child would recognize where things should be at and learn that there is a place for everything.
5. Tidy at night when your toddler has gone to sleep and before you go to bed. This way, you will wake up to a tidy house.
The safety of the child comes first in all respect. A tidy house that is childproofed and full of love is the best place where a child can grow at.
